Understanding AutoCAD Toolbar Functions
Hello Noobsters, today we are going to learn about AutoCAD Toolbar Fuction. OK, let's get started.
What Is Crosshair ?
The movable thing is known as crosshair, crosshair is very important thing in AutoCAD. Crosshair is used to draw object or selecting object. You can change the crosshair size, just type command : "DS" and press Enter, click on Option, go to Display and you can change the crosshair size from 5 to 100, then click on Apply and OK. See? now crosshair size turns into 100.
Open and Save A New Drawing.
To create a new drawing click on File > New. There you can see different types of templates which used for different purposes. Click on acad.dwt and click open for our AutoCAD basic tutorial. After open your drawing, you have to save a drawing, to save a drawing click on File > Save, in this dialog box you can save your drawing with different name and different type of save formats. Just give a name for example "basic", now you have to select a file type, here you see different types of AutoCAD file format that is : *.dwg, *.dws, *.dwt and *.dxf. We use AutoCAD 2000 or 2004/LT.dwg. Here why we use that format is because if in case we send the file for different guy, and that guy have nor the format so he can open your file on his format. That's why we have to save the file in AutoCAD 2000/LT2000.dwg and press Save.
Just remember one thing, while use drawing CTRL+S key always to save your data, after save your data or save your drawing let's start to drawing an object.
Changing Drawing Units
Before drawing an object, check your unit that is drawing in which units you want to draw an object. To change the unit type click on Format > Units, you see Drawing Unit dialog box opens, here you can change unit type with : architechture, decimal, engineering, factional or scientific. You can also change the precision to "0", "0,0", "0,00", "0,000", "0,0000", etc. You can change unit angle also with : decimal degrees, deg/min/sec, grads, radians and surveyor units. Same thing happend with angle you can change the precision to "0", "0,0", "0,00", "0,000", "0,0000", etc. You can change your unit scale with inch, feet, miles, milimeters, centimeters, meters, kilometers and some other unit scales.
We use Decimal with precision 0,0 ; unit scale milimeter which is a standard setting to draw an object, and then click OK.
The same thing you can also use command : UN and Enter, see ? the same dialog box appears. You can change everything as for your requirement.
So that's all for today, next tutorial will be about drawing line in AuutoCAD.
