Getting Started With AutoCAD

Hello Noobsters we are here to learn AuutoCAD software, before learning let's begin with some information about AutoCAD. AutoCAD software introduced by Autodesk, inc. means Autodesk Incorporation. AutoCAD is a commercial software application for 2D or 3D drawings, where that is stands for computer edit designing, computer edit drawing or you can see it computer edit drafting.

AutoCAD is used by architech, engineers, designers and other professionals. AutoCAD software alows users to create drawing, lines, designs electronicly.

AutoCAD commons and options allows you to draw object of any size or shape. AutoCAD is used to prepare 2 Dimensional (2D Draw), 3 Dimensional (3D Draw), 3D Modes and animation also. It is a very popular software accross aple.

Now let's get to the AutoCAD screen, when we open the AutoCAD software we see AutoCAD screen like this, on the top bar you can see 3D Modeling, that means the screen is used for 3D Drawings, but we can use it for 2D drawings also.

We are starting with a basic so we change it to AutoCAD Classic, just by clicking on an option at the topbar and click on AutoCAD Classic. You see the screen turns into the classic screen. Let's close this option.

Now lets we get introduction of AutoCAD screen. First, we know about title bar, the title bar is in the top of your screen. We suggest you to name a drawing currently you working on it, if your system has suficient memory you can keep several drawing opens at once with its own of title bar.

Menu Bar

Menu bar contains the name all primary menus in AutoCAD, these are the prime menu : file, Edit, View, Insert, Format, Tools, Draw, Dimension, Modify, Parametric, Window, Help and Express Toobar. These all known as menu bar.

Properties Toolbar

Here you can use different colors, different types of lines and different line width for your drawings. These are properties toolbar, see you can use different colors by just clicking on Select Colors and select a color as your requirement and just click OK. Same, you can use different types of lines just by pressing on a those, here you have to load by pressing on 'load'. You see different types of line, you can use as for your requirements. For example I click on ZIGZAG, press OK-see ZIGZAG now appear, the click on ZIGZAG and then click current. And now the ZIGZAG is currently used on properties toolbar. Also you can change line width by clicking on the property toolbar.

Layer Toolbar

This is the more important toolbar used while drawing. We can create many numbers of layers as for our requirement. Just click on this drop down list, you see you can create many number of layers. This will learned afterwards.

Draw Toolbar

Draw toolbar located at left side of the AutoCAD screen, see those are the draw toolbar which has Line, Consection Line, Polyline, Polygon, Rectangle, ARC, Circle, Revision cloud, Spline, Smooth Polyline, Ellipse Arc, Insert Block, Make Block, Point, Hatch, Gradient, Region , Table and Text.

Edit Toolbar

Is located on the right of the screen, where we have : Erase, Copy, Mirror, Offset, Rectangular Array, Move, Rotate, Scale, Strech, Trim, Extend, Break at Point, Break, Join, Chamfert, Fillet, Blend Curves and Explode.

Command Prompt

Command prompt area is located base of your screen where written 'command'. AutoCAD software is working for your command only, so you must type a command to create your drawing as for your requirement.

Graphic Screen

Is a space where you draw your drawing, normaly in black color. The space is known as a graphic screen. Now the X-Y indicates a coordinate 0-0.

Lets starting with AutoCAD 2D drawing, so we keep it on X-Y coordinates onto this screen where X indicates the length of object and Y indicates width of object. When we draw a 3D object we have to use third coordinate that we will learn afterward, by this time you keep it on X and Y coordinates.
