Hello Noobster, welcome to the tutorial of audio editing basic with Reaper. The series of video will show you how easy it is to work with Reaper on your computer. This tutorial are designed for people with a little or no experience in audio editing, but for whatever reason need to make an audio recordings of any kind instrumental or vocal recordings narrations, ambient sounds with the track music sessions audio for video, etc.

This tutorial are not exclusively for Reaper, you can follow them using your software of choice. These videos has been made using repair instead of the simple and famous audacity or the other professional packages like ProTools, Logic or Cubase because as youI know reaper has many advantages for a lot of people. You can try the full version for as long as you want, anyway this is something you cannot do with ProTools or Cubase.

It is very cheap if you ever decide you buy it will only cost you $60 that means you can spend the difference things that cubase is around $600 getting a far better microphone or a better sound card, better plugins monitor etc. This will really make your music sound better.

It is cross-platform that means you don't need Mac as your operating system it works very well in Mac Windows and Linux. And it is very easy to use and flexible, it opens very fast and works easily in very old computers too.

So enough talking let's start first go to your web browser and search for reaper and select reaper.fm , this will take you to the main page of Reaper website which you can see there, hit the download button to go to the download section and scroll down, select the Download files that is appropriate for your system, whether it is 32-bit or 64-bit, in the case will be windows 64-bit, if you are not sure whether your computer is 32 or 64 bit always select the 32 bit option. The rest of the process is as usual proceed as you always do when installing new software.

Reaper installations and updates are very clean in this case as I have already install repair I will do an update which works the same just click on the file execute. As you can see the installation takes only a few seconds and I can then run Reaper, if everything went okay you are ready to open Reaper. The only difference between your trial version and my paid version is the pop up window reminding you that you have not paid for it.

Now if this is the first time you open repair another message will tell you that you have not yet selected an audio device, select do it now and you will see this window this is the configuration for the audio devices select DirectSound in there if you are in a Windows computer or core audio and in the next section input device and output.

Congratulations you are now ready to explore repair and start anything about  recording your music which is something we will do very soon. See you on next tutorial.
