Rendering A Project In REAPER
Hello noobsters, welcome to sixth tutorial of audio editing basics with Reaper. I will explain to you what audio rendering is and how to render your own audio edit fast and easy without going into any technical explanation that you don't really need now.
Preparation Before Rendering File
Before we start let's open Reaper this is the last project I was working on on the last tutorial so I will use it to demonstrate rendering, imagine you have edit some audio, just to remind you this is a live recording of a Brahms Cello Sonata which we have beed edit in previous tutorials here is the introduction, people clapping, the sound check of the mucisian, so I just remove all that. Insert a fading, and fade out at the end, that's all. OK now I am ready to render, the final step in your work will always be rendering which is sometimes called bouncing or export. The output of this process is a new audio file which contains all the work and transformation you did in the editing area. Remember again that whatever original files you have use in your project will remain untouched.
Let's Render An Audio File
To render your project go to file > render and have a look at the new windows in my scene complicated at first but believe me it is not in fact usually you will leave most of the fields in the default position for now I will explain only the basic setup but feel free to explore of the configuration and compare the results from top to bottom the fields are : 1)Render, you have many options here just leave you mix I move to the next one 2) Render Bounds also some different options here but we will not change anything there.
This is important, output here I will have to define the location for the rendering which I can change here but desktop is okay for now for me and the file name, by default it we will output to the name of the project as you can see it's project2. In here in the 3rd fields you will see the location, the name of the file, and the extension. In options we will not change anything for now.
Choosing Audio Output Format
Output format here have also some options to choose, my personal advice here is to choose the most compatible and widely used formats available which are WAV which is good for full quality output but can result in a very big file sometimes so it is a bad idea if you want to upload it to the internet for example , and MP3 or even better OGG vorbies, this is ideal for a small size file with some quality loss, it is like mp3 but without the patent issues it's perfect for mobile devices and fast upload to the internet.
And out here if you need or you just want to use mp3 as output format depending on your computer configuration you might need to download and install an additional a LAME mp3 encoder, click on the button and follow the instructions. If you cannot use mp3 or don't care believe me use OGG Vorbis and forget about it. If you are still curious search audio formats in the Wikipedia to learn more. I prefer always OGG Vorbies. That is all you need to know for now click on Render 1 file at the bottom and wait for the results. When reaper finished you should have a new audio file in your desktop. congratulations you just save and render your first project with Reaper.
